Investment Performance
Endowment growth is key to San Diego State’s ability to realize our goals, particularly in providing scholarship opportunities to worthy students, recruiting and retaining distinguished educators and scholars and investing in existing programs of excellence while creating new programs that are responsive to the evolving needs of our community, region and nation.Oversight of the university’s endowment is the responsibility of The Campanile Foundation (TCF), SDSU’s philanthropic auxiliary. In order to provide investment oversight, TCF’s Board combines all endowment gifts into a single investment pool that is allocated among eight investment managers who represent seven major asset investment classes.
San Diego State University has achieved outstanding investment results over the past several years. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007, the endowment investment pool earned a total return of 16.8 percent, with a five-year return rate of 12.6 percent. This return places us among the top 20 percent of similar foundations nationwide.
