New Endowments
During the 2006-2007 fiscal year, more than 545 donors made a gift to SDSU’s endowment in support of student scholarship and enrichment, faculty development or academic excellence. In addition to contributions made to existing endowments, new endowments were established by the following:
A majority of annual gifts given by alumni, corporations and friends to SDSU’s School of Accountancy are allocated to the Accounting Leaders for Educational Success Fund which supports faculty and academic excellence.
The largest provider of accountants in the San Diego area, SDSU’s School of Accountancy is nationally recognized for innovation in accounting education. Through its unique, integrated curriculum, students are provided with a thorough knowledge of technical accounting skills as well as a mentoring environment that prepares them with the information technology, communication, problem-solving and business strategy competencies needed be successful in this fast-changing field.
The Carol Forrest, P.E. Memorial Watershed Management Scholarship Endowment was jointly established by Forrest’s husband, Michael Harding, and her employer, Geosyntec Consultants. The late Forrest, who received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering at SDSU, was a well known expert on erosion and sediment control. The scholarship bearing her name will provide support for graduate students in the College of Engineering who are interested in studying water resources affected by storm water and urban runoff.
